Space Out at Yuri's Night Houston

By Alexandria Ragsdale on Mar 30, 2009

It's only appropriate that Houston would host the largest celebration of space flight in the world, isn't it? That's what's going down this weekend at Yuri's Night 2009. Named for the first man to travel into space nearly fifty years ago, Yuri Gagarin, the celebration this Saturday is perfect for all you local NASA geeks.

Get your dork on early in the morning at the Yuri's 5K Fun Run/Walk at Challenger Park (located near NASA in southeast Houston). This year, proceeds benefit the worthy Challenger Center for Space Science Education. Then, go home and rest up for the evening celebration downtown at The Meridian. Tickets are only $10, and events include live performances by the aptly named Rockit Scientists and SoundChemist DJ, special performances, a chance to play like an astronaut and experience weightlessness, as well as some mysterious surprise events. T-minus five days till the fun blasts off, so get your tickets soon!
